Religious Education

At De La Salle, religious education is about the development of an open-ended, ‘thinking’ approach to the Catholic tradition, rooted in the core values of our Lasallian heritage.

Pupils follow the archdiocesan programme of study for secondary RE which has been modified to reflect the distinctive character of our school.  All pupils take GCSE Religious Studies, exploring religion and life from a Catholic Christian perspective and issues of religion and society from a Christian and Muslim perspective.

The religious education learning area aims to:

  • Develop pupils’ abilities in describing, explaining, analysing and evaluating
  • Explore the key principles of inclusion, faith and challenge
  • Enable pupils to develop respect for and sensitivity to others
  • Offer opportunities for personal reflection and spiritual development
