New Parents' Information for September 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new Year 7 students to De La Salle and hope that they are looking forward to beginning this exciting next stage of their school journey with us.
We appreciate that starting secondary school is a significant milestone for both students and their families, so we wanted to share some important information to help ensure that the first day and the start of the new school year run as smoothly as possible.
Start of Term
The new school year for Year 7 students begins on Wednesday, 2nd September 2026.
All students should be on the school site by 8:25am, ready for the school day to begin promptly at 8:30am.
Staff will be available to welcome students and help them find their way, and we will make sure that they are supported as they become familiar with their new surroundings and routines.
Students should enter school via the Alder Hey gates where they will be welcomed on the blue line by year teams.
School Meals
During the first morning, all Year 7 students will be registered on our school canteen system. This will include setting up their fingerprint recognition, and we aim to have all students registered and ready to use the system by break time.
Parents and carers will be able to add money to their child's school meals account through ParentPay. Details about accessing and setting up ParentPay will be sent to families next week.
Free School Meals: students will have their money added automatically to their new school meals account - provided parents have registered their child for free school meals.
Non-free school meals: As ParentPay accounts may not yet be available for the first few days, we would encourage students to either:
- bring a packed lunch from home; or
- bring some cash, which they will be able to add to their school meals account using one of the revaluation machines located in school. An updated menu is attached to this email.
We will support students with this process and help them become familiar with how the canteen system works.
School Synergy – Parent Communications
We have moved to School Synergy as our main system for communication between school and parents/carers.
On their first day, your child will be given a letter to bring home containing the information you need to access School Synergy and download the Parent App.
Once set up, School Synergy will provide you with access to a range of useful information about your child and their school life, including their:
- timetable;
- achievements;
- behaviour information; and
- school communications.
Further information about School Synergy is also available on the school website for your reference.
We would encourage all parents and carers to download and register for the app as soon as they receive their information, as School Synergy will be an important way for us to keep you informed throughout your child's time at De La Salle.
We Look Forward to Welcoming You
We know that the transition from primary to secondary school can bring a mixture of excitement and nerves, but please be reassured that there will be plenty of support available to our new students as they settle into life at De La Salle.
We are delighted to welcome you and your child to our school community and look forward to working in partnership with you over the coming years.
We look forward to seeing all of our new Year 7 students on Wednesday morning.
Yours sincerely,
De La Salle School
