At De La Salle, we make it a priority to celebrate effort, improvement and achievement — ensuring that students understand that their positive actions matter, and that every step they take forward will be noticed and rewarded.

1 Point – meeting expectations, completing homework, attending activities

2 Points – excellent work, PROUD stickers, Extra Applause, showing Core Value

3 Points – exceptional leadership, kindness or contribution 

Star badges will be rewarded in assemblies when pupils reach the following thresholds:

BRONZE: 50 points

SILVER: 150 points

GOLD: 300 points

PROUD Fridays are a much loved part of our rewards culture at De La Salle. Throughout the week, staff award PROUD stickers — or slips in practical subjects — to celebrate excellent pieces of work that meet our presentation and effort expectations. Every Friday lunchtime, students bring their work to the PROUD table, where it is commended, celebrated and stamped before they choose a prize. Their PROUD loyalty card is also stamped, and students who collect 10 stickers earn a bigger reward. PROUD Fridays have been incredibly successful, with hundreds of students having their work acknowledged and celebrated every single week, reinforcing the message that hard work, effort and pride in learning truly matter.

Extra Applause is a simple but powerful way we celebrate outstanding effort and achievement in the classroom. In every lesson, teachers choose a student who deserves special recognition — sharing their work with the class, celebrating their success and giving them a well-earned round of applause. The student’s name and the reason for their recognition are then recorded on the Extra Applause sign on the classroom door, showcasing their achievement throughout the week. Students also receive star points for being chosen, reinforcing the value we place on hard work, determination and pride in learning. Extra Applause has become a motivating and uplifting routine that shines a light on the brilliant things our students do every day.

Form stars of the week are nominated by Form Tutors, celebrated in assemblies, names displayed on our notice boards and star points awarded.

Termly Reward Assemblies are held and students are nominated for the following awards:

• Form of the term
• Form star of the term
• Subject star of the term
• “You have made a difference” Core Value bade
• 100% attendance draw
• 97% attendance draw
• Zero lates draw
• Zero behaviour points draw
• Top star points
• Headteacher’s Award Badge

All pupils will receive points and a chocolate reward.

For Year 11 only, there will be 5 students chosen each time there is a review of Year targets and they will receive certificates from the Headteacher.

• Each year group will have a termly reward celebration – Christmas, Easter and Summer.
• We will be having an Awards evening for Years 7-10 in the Summer Term.
