The humanities department is dynamic, vibrant and forward-thinking, delivering exciting, engaging and innovative study programmes.  Each key stage has well developed schemes of work that have a student-centred approach towards learning at their core.

Student enjoyment is at the heart of our ethos and to this end we place great emphasis on sharing pupil successes in school and with parents.  Pupils can also take part in a variety of trips including the Lake District, Snowdonia and the WW1 battlefields of Belgium.

The humanities department aims to:

  • Develop pupils’ skills in selecting, collating and analysing information
  • Develop pupils’ understanding of cause and consequence
  • Develop pupils’ understanding of the world in which they live
  • Enhance pupils’ natural curiosity for the world around them
